Zine coming soon

Rebellion! front over

Thanks again to everyone who has supported my work.

The Outsiders touring exhibition is now open at Street Level Photoworks where it will be shown until 13 May before moving to Hillhead Library in Glasgow https://www.streetlevelphotoworks.org/event/marc-davenant-outsiders. This is the last booking for the current tour of the exhibition which has had over 120,000 visitors so far and has hopefully helped change people’s views on the homelessness crisis.

Rebellion! front over
Rebellion! by Davenant

I am now working on my next exhibition which is called Rebellion! and is an exploration and celebration of the importance of protest as part of our cultural identity. The right to protest is under threat like never before. Recent work on the exhibition has included documenting the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign and the current strike by ex-miners at the National Coal Mining Museum.

The zine, which will be accompanying the exhibition, is currently with the printer and will have 56 pages and 55 photographs of protests taken over a period of twelve years. It will include the poem ‘The Voices Raised’ which was written by Ian McMillan for the project. The zine will be available for purchase from my website in a week or so and can also be bought at each venue where the exhibition is shown.

Rebellion! opens as a pin-up exhibition at Newcastle City Library in June before going to the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead as a full framed exhibition from October 2026 to February 2027.

My article on the strike at the National Coal Mining Museum will be in The Big Issue later this month.
