About

Rebellion! front over

Davenant is a social documentary photographer who works with marginalised communities and uses photography to highlight social inequality. His Outsiders project on homelessness and substandard housing has had critical acclaim and was turned into a book and a touring exhibition. Outsiders recorded over 130,000 visitors over the life of the tour. Davenant was recently selected by readers of big issue as one of the top 100 uk changemakers in 2026.

Two-time winner of the Portrait of Britain competition, his work has been exhibited across the UK, internationally and inside the Houses of Parliament. A book of the photographs and stories from his Outsiders project on homelessness and substandard housing is available from our shop

Rebellion! is now being shown as a touring exhibition and opens next at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead on 23 October where it will be shown until February 2027.

Davenant’s next project is called ’50 Years On’ and is an exploration of the impact of five decades of neoliberalism, deindustrialisation and globalisation on six towns in Britain. 50YO will be a searing indictment of the policies of successive governments and their abandonment of post-industrial communities along with their casual disregard of the social contract with working class people.
